Where Did Dr. Sima Tafreshi Study Dentistry?

Dr. Sima earned her Doctor of Dental Surgery at the Columbia University College of Dental Medicine. She then spent two years in a general practice residency with Northwell Health in Manhasset, New York, and a second general practice residency at Brookdale University Hospital here in Brooklyn.

She returned to Columbia from 2022 to 2025 for her certificate in periodontics. Alongside her specialty training, she has practiced general dentistry in New York and Pennsylvania since 2018, and is licensed in both states.

Teaching and Honors

Before joining Brooklyn City Dental, Dr. Tafreshi spent three years as a clinical instructor at the Maurice H. Kornberg School of Dentistry at Temple University in Philadelphia. Her education was supported by a National Health Service Corps scholarship and the Ralph and Jessica Kaslick Scholarship, and she held a Columbia University Research Fellowship. As an undergraduate she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and the Sigma Beta Honor Society and named a Golden Key International Scholar.

Outside of the Dental Office, What Do You Like to Do?

Outside of the dental office, Dr. Sima spends as much of her time outdoors as she can. She is an avid hiker, and she loves to travel, so a trip that offers somewhere new to walk is her favorite kind.
